Other drivers/cyclists are, as long as they have their lights on, no problem.

Lights should not interfere with others. It might help if pointed downwards.

What the participants like about cycling

Mieke only uses the bike for mobility.

Walking takes more time then cycling.

If Roos is biking for fun, she is biking with someone else.

Having a bicycle is easier, it has more freedom in comparison to OV

With the bicycle you get from A to B in a relatively quick way .

What makes the participants feel unsafe

The social cues.

Crossroads. Traffic comes in all kinds of ways. With an equivalent crossroad, they feel the need to flee, which is why they go on the sidewalk often.

Uncertainty that you don’t know something is coming.

Traffic lights that start blinking at night when calm.

Scanning surroundings. Deciding whether you can cross the road.
