Analysis

Results: Objective 2

Pinpoints of improvement

  • Other drivers/cyclists are, as long as they have their lights on, no problem.

  • The participants cannot solve social cues.

  • Cycling next to the curb, when turning left or right, sometimes going over the curb. Can cause other issues.

    • Especially recognizing grass and water at the side of the road.

  • Not everytime filling in navigation.

  • When cycling trough a tunnel, it takes time for the eyes to adapt, this even more the case with people with the Stargardt disease.

  • Participants find it annoying if others have bright lights.

  • When having a bright light shining in front of them on the road, it takes less effort to adapt to the dark.

  • It is hard to detect the side of the road if there is no white line

  • Lights should not interfere with others. It might help if pointed downwards.

  • They need to pick out the route before you leave

What the participants like about cycling

  • Uncertainty that you don’t know something is coming.

  • Silent cars.

  • Open cardoors

  • Traffic lights that start blinking at night when calm.
